Abstract

The article "Geriatric Psychopharmacology: Present and Future" by Ronald L, Martin [Psychiatric Annals 1990, Vol. 20, No. 12, p 682] contains an error.

In the third paragraph under the subheading Pharmacokinetic Changes With Aging, Present, the sentence should read: "Some substances (ie, carbamazepine, chronic ethanol use, phenobarbital, phenytoin, tobacco, and disulfiram) will increase the rate of metabolism by inducing metabolic enzymes, while others (ie, beta-blockers, cinietidine, acute ethanol use, monoamine oxidase inhibitors [MAOIsJ, and valproic acid) will decrease the rate.8"…
