Born in 1957, Michael Zimmermann grew up in a Foreign Service family and spent part of his childhood abroad. After studying art history at George Washington University in Washington, DC, he transferred to the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, attending from 1981 to 1984. Eventually, he left art school to pursue other interests. In 2011, he made one of the best decisions he ever made and returned to painting and drawing. His other interests include being in nature, reading, and meditation.
