VIDEO: Genetic predictors of tardive dyskinesia

SAN DIEGO — In this video, James L. Kennedy, MD, of the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Toronto, discusses the use of genetic factors to predict risk for tardive dyskinesia, a common side effect of psychiatric medications.
“If we can identify certain individuals, we may be able to avoid a lot of the side effects that are so common in psychiatric medications,” Kennedy told Healio/Psychiatry.
Kennedy and colleagues identified specific genes associated with risk for tardive dyskinesia.
