Abstract

Steven M. Schwarz, MD, is chair of pediatrics, Long Island College Hospital, Brooklyn, NY, and professor of pediatrics, State University of New York Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine. Dr. Schwarz received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed his fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition at Stanford and Columbia Universities. Before assuming his present position in 1995, he served on the faculty at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and subsequently at New York Medical College, where he was appointed chief of the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition in the School of Medicine and director of the Program in Nutrition in the Graduate School of Health Sciences.

His current research interests include the evaluation and management of feeding and nutritional disorders in children with developmental disabilities. Among his professional associations, Dr. Schwarz is a fellow of the American Pediatric Society, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Nutrition, and the New York Academy of Medicine. He is a member of the Clinical Practice Committee of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, and was recently appointed to the Society's Advocacy Advisory Board.…
