I would not recommend this book for those general pediatricians who are faced with practices including increasing numbers of adolescents, and who wish to learn more about their sometimes baffling behavior. The author, a practicing psychologist and psychoanalyst, has written an interesting interpretation of the psychodynamics of the adolescent experience, but both her prose and her concepts are tough reading for those of us either not familiar with, or not receptive to, psychoanalytic interpretations.…
