Abstract

It is our pleasure to welcome Dr. Herbert J. Grossman as a new member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Pediatrie Annals.

Dr. Grossman has had a long and distinguished career in pediatrics, leading to his present position as Director of the Institute for the Study of Mental Retardation and Related Disabilities at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and professor of pediatrics, neurology and psychiatry at the University of Michigan Medical School.

A graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, he served a rotating internship at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago and a residency in pediatrics at the University of Illinois Research and Educational Hospitals.

Many honors have been bestowed on Dr. Grossman, including the UCLA/NPIChild Psychiatry Golden Apple Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award in 1 977 and the American Association on Mental Deficiency Service and Special Awards in 1976. He was made a Distinguished Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association in 1972.

Dr. Grossman presently serves as a member of the American Medical Association Consultants Panel on Television and Health, on the Advisory Panel for the Center for Mental Health and Psychiatric Services of the American Hospital Association and as chairperson for the Steering Advisory Committee of the National Consortium on Services for Handicapped Children.

Having published some 60 articles in medical journals, Dr. Grossman also served as guest editor of a special issue of Pediatrie Annals in 1978.
