AOSSM names new president during annual meeting

Neal S. ElAttrache, MD, was named new president of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine during its annual meeting in San Diego.

According to a press release from the society , he is an orthopedic surgeon specializ ing in sports medicine at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles where he is a member of the board of directors and chairman of the board of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Foundation. He also is co-chair of medical affairs for the Cedar Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute.

ElAttrache is the head team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Rams. He is also an orthopedic consultant for the Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Kings and the Anaheim Ducks.

He i s a member of the American Orthopaedic As sociation, the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the America Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the National Football League Physicians Society. Previously, ElAttrache was president of the Herodicus Society and was program chair for the AOSSM.

He has author ed 35 textbook chapters, 94 research journal articles and 10 orthopedic instructional videos and has given more than 325 lectures at orthopedic surgery conferences.

ElAttrache was named one of the “ Top 10 Sports Medicine Doctors in America ” by Sports Illustrated online, and USA Today named him in “ 100 of the Most Powerful People in MLB. ”
