VIDEO: Earlier ambulation after lumbar spine surgery linked with fewer complications, shorter length of stay

ORLANDO, Fla. — At the North American Society Annual Meeting, Owoicho Adogwa, MD, MPH, discussed a study performed at a single institution that looked at co-management of geriatric patients who underwent lumbar spine surgery. He said patients who are ambulated earlier after lumbar spine surgery have fewer complications, a shorter length of hospital stay and increased patient satisfaction.
