Freeman Manufacturing Co introduced the new Multipulse 1000, a state-of-the-art peristaltic sequential compression pump for prevention of deep vein thrombosis and treatment of lymphedema and other conditions causing swollen limbs.
The Multipulse 1000's unique peristaltic compression wave mimics the body's natural mechanism for moving fluid. A microprocessor controls the sequentially programmed inflation and deflation of each chamber of the pump's 10-chambered arm or leg garment eliminating the discomfort of unnecessary prolonged compression during each compression cycle.
Pressure levels and cycle and therapy times are adjustable and can be preprogrammed and kept in memory. Other unique features include a chamber bypass option that enables the clinician to preprogram an automatic bypass of one or two chambers to avoid sensitive tissue during compression cycles. Rolyan introduced the Progressive Stretch Foot Splint to correct plantar flexion contractures of the ankle secondary to tendon shortening or hypertonicity. This comfortable foot splint adjusts easily from full plantar flexion to a desired amount of dorsiflexion. The splint, made from durable high-temperature plastic, has a cut-out heel to prevent decubiti and is fully padded with a closed cell foam for optimum patient comfort.

AliMed announced the AntiSpasticity Ball Splint, a preformed, ready-to-use adjustable splint for the hand. Adjustments can be made with hot water or a heat gun, as this splint is made of a low temperature thermoplastic.
Stroke patients with wrist contracture and patients who do not require wrist support will benefit from use of this splint.
