Trice Medical announced it is acquiring S.E.G-Way Orthopaedics Inc., a leader in solutions for minimally invasive orthopedic procedures.
According to a company press release, S.E.G-Way Orthopaedics (SegWay) is best known for its endoscopic carpal tunnel release which supports minimally invasive carpal tunnel surgeries, while Trice Medical addresses the need for accurate, cost-effective orthopedic diagnostic solutions with mi-eye, a fully disposable arthroscopy camera.
“The SegWay acquisition transformed Trice Medical into the first company that offers both minimally invasive orthopedic diagnostic and surgical solutions,” Jeffrey O’Donnell Sr., CEO of Trice Medical, said in the release. “We’re looking forward to integrating the SegWay offerings and building on our combined strengths. One of the areas we’re looking at is using our minimally invasive camera technology in the operating room as well.”
In the release, Stuart Seymour, CEO and founder of SegWay Orthopaedics, noted that SegWay has grown 30% to 40% year-on-year. He added the acquisition with Trice Medical will round out SegWay’s offerings to physicians.
“The combined Trice Medical and SegWay capabilities will benefit surgeons and medical facilities in an efficient, cost-beneficial way,” Mark Foster, president and chief commercialization officer of Trice Medical, said in the release. “We believe we can solve big problems with small cameras, small instruments and minimal anesthesia for patients.”
