Lumere announced it has appointed John Cherf, MD, MPH, MBA, as its first chief medical officer. Cherf will oversee the company’s physician advisory council.
“We’re excited about the combination of clinical and change management experience that Dr. Cherf brings to our team,” Hani Elias, JD, MPH, Lumere’s CEO, said in the release. “He is an experienced clinical leader who understands the unique needs and concerns of physicians and can share that understanding with our clients. Because Dr. Cherf continues to practice, he brings practical experience as well as a keen awareness of the state of health care and the wide range of available drugs and devices.”
Cherf is an orthopedic surgeon with more than 20 years of clinical and health care leadership experience. He has published many peer-review journals, speaks around the world and has been an advisor and consultant for orthopedic and health care businesses, such as the FDA. He remains as chief of orthopedics at the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and continues at his private practice. Previously, he was chief medical officer of Pinpoint Care, chairman of OrthoCentrix Solutions and president of OrthoIndex.
