IOP Ophthalmics has been acquired by Katena, according to a press release.
Katena manufactures ophthalmic surgical instruments and related ophthalmic products, with sales in more than 110 countries, while IOP Ophthalmics develops, commercializes and distributes specialty ophthalmic surgical devices and biologics.
Jason Malecka, president and founder of IOP Ophthalmics, and Erich Ziegler, vice president and chief financial officer of IOP Ophthalmics, will work with the combined company and concentrate on global product growth.
“This combination of two great companies not only creates greater critical mass in the ophthalmology marketplace, but it enhances our ability to provide more clinical solutions and be of greater value to our customers,” Bill Friedberg, president and CEO of Katena, said in the release.
Terms of the deal were not released.
