Synergetics reports 6.2% increase in sales for first quarter

Synergetics USA reported total sales of $15.5 million for its first quarter, an increase of 6.2% over the first quarter last year, according to a press release.

Net income was $900,000, or $0.04 per diluted share, a 30.8% decrease from $1.4 million, or $0.05 per diluted share, a year ago.

Ophthalmic sales were $8.5 million, a 1.9% decline from $8.7 million a year ago. Domestic ophthalmic sales were down 0.8%, and international ophthalmic sales were down 3.4%.

Original equipment manufacturer sales were $6.8 million, a 19.1% increase from $5.7 million the previous year.

Domestic product sales increased 9.6% over the previous year, but international sales declined 3.4%.

Disposable products sales increased 13% to $13.8 million, with capital equipment sales declining 31.6% to $1.4 million.
