Steps to Successful Student Enrollment Presented

Abstract

A new workbook published by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing gives nursing schools the techniques needed for carrying out comprehensive enrollment programs. The 268-page publication, Successful Enrollment Management: A Workbook for Nursing Education Enrollment Professionals, is designed specifically to provide nursing school recruiters and other enrollment specialists with the steps for making enrollment management a systematic and successful process.

The workbook takes the reader through short-term approaches for immediate results and long-term strategies that produce enrollment stability over longer periods of time. The 11 chapters provide help for solving even the most complex enrollment problems. Techniques are presented for analyzing a current enrollment program, determining desired results, and Grafting and carrying out a comprehensive plan from building a database to establishing an enrollment task force, developing public relations messages, identifying target audiences, networking, communications, marketing, and working within the abilities and constraints of one's own institution. In addition, the workbook provides steps for effectively managing student retention and transition and for showcasing nursing's benefits in relation to competing fields.
