We are very pleased to present this issue of The Journal of Nursing Education themed on the subject of the associate degree program in nursing education. Miss Georgeen DeChow, Director, Department of Nursing, Manatee Junior College, Bradenton, Florida, and member of the JNE Editorial Board, has served as guest editor for the issue. We are deeply grateful to Miss DeChow and to her contributors for the issue for their efforts on behalf of the Journal. We think you will find the articles presented particularly stimulating and interesting in view of the position paper recently published by the ANA on the educational preparation for nurse practitioners. As publishers for nursing texts and references, we have followed the rapid change and development in nursing education programs closely, and the articles presented on these pages have been as interesting to the publishing staff for JNE as we believe they will be to you.
We would like to take this opportunity to invite our readers, who plan to attend the ANA Convention in San Francisco this spring, to visit the McGraw-Hill booth No. 208 in Brooks Hall during the meeting. The JNE publishing staff will be in attendance, and we will welcome the opportunity to meet and talk with you. Books described in the Journal will be on display.
