The National Foundation for Long Term Health Care, Inc.'s James D. Durante Nurse Scholarship Program will award $10,000 in scholarships in 1997 to 10 registered nurse and 10 licensed practical nurse students who are interested in long-term care. The National Foundation for Long Term Health Care is an affiliate of the American Health Care Associate (AHCA).
The scholarship program was created in 1989 to help ease the nation's nurse shortage and to support nursing students interested in the field of long-term care. Applicants must work in an AHCAmember nursing facility. Additionally, scholarship winners are required to complete 25 hours of volunteer service in an AHCA-member facility of their choice. Completed application packets must be received by the Foundation and postmarked on or before May 30, 1997. Winners will be notified by August 1, 1997.
