The National Association for Continence (NAFC), formerly Help for Incontinent People, Inc., has recently experienced a threefold increase in requests from consumers for the names of local health care professionals specially trained in treating incontinence.
NAFC operates the only nationwide consumer referral service offering names of qualified health care professionals whose credentials have cleared hurdles imposed by NAFCs screening criteria. Included are such requirements as board or professional association certification in treating incontinence.
In the past year, the requirements for professional affiliation with the organization's Continence Referral Service have been revamped and updated to more appropriately encompass clinical nurse specialists, physical therapists, and nurse practitioners as well as medical doctors.
