Pef Visitation Video Available
The new video "Pet Therapy is Making a Difference" is a comprehensive "window" to the world of pet visitation/ therapy. Its focus is to show how a variety of animals can improve the quality of life of residents in long-term and day care facilities through the use of safe and effective approaches.
While animal-assisted therapy is not a new phenomenon, the video illustrates more effectively than any manual could, the principles and procedures important in the successful utilization of dogs, cats, chickens, and other small animals.
The video discusses specific training points, and the volunteers and their animals are shown demonstrating proper, safe, and effective interactions with older adults.
Health care professionals, constantly searching for ways to improve their patients' lives will be able to use it to demonstrate their expectations to prospective pet therapy volunteers. To groups providing pet visitation/therapy training the video will become a primary teaching tool.
Because the animal's comfort and safety must be kept in mind, thoughtful directions are provided so the animals can receive the consideration they deserve.

WanderGuard Offers Delayed Egress Magnetic tecles for Doors
For locked units that require resident security and containment, the 101+ Delayed Egress Magnetic Locks offer easier legal pass-thru and alarm reset with the new Touch Entry Data Key and the TouchEntry Reader. This provides another option to the standard manual resets required by NFPA Life Safety Code 101. Each TouchEntry Data Key features rugged stainless steel durability. It contains a 32 bit data chip, allowing programmable, individualized, and controlled access to secured areas.
With the 101+ Magnetic Lock, the door is normally closed, latched, and secured with a holding force of 1500 lbs. For a resident to start the opening cycle, pressure must be applied for up to 3 seconds. The lock emits a pre-alarm, then opens the door with full alarm after a preset time of 15 or 30 seconds. The TouchEntry Reader and Data Key allow for simple, immediate legal pass-thru and alarm reset by authorized personnel.
When the 101+ Magnetic Locks are integrated to the WanderGuard Departure Alert System, the door can remain unlocked until a monitored resident comes near, activating the Magnetic Lock. A programmable nuisance delay is provided to prevent delayed egress from being falsely activated.
All 101+ Magnetic Lock installations are subject to approval by the authority having jurisdiction in the area. For more information, call WanderGuard at: (800) 824-2296.

The Arjo Trixie Lift transfers totally dependent, non-ambulatory residents from bed to chair, floor to bed, chair to bed or to toilet while eliminating manua lifting by the caregiver. The battery-operated Trixie Lift ensures resident comfort and caregiver safety in a variety of care settings. It is designed for use in hospitals, group homes, nursing homes and private homes. The revolutionary design allows the lift to fold up for easy storage in confined areas or for transport throughout the facility or to a residential home.
The ergonomie design ensures easy operation for the caregiver. Ergonomie features include casters designed to roll on carpet and properly positioned handles. This allows forward, backward, and side-toside movement of the lift while requiring very limited physical exertion of the caregiver.
Other features include a remote hand set and a four point swivel spreader bar which eliminates swing and distributes the resident's weight evenly to reduce pressure on the legs and fragile skin. The spreader bar can also keep the resident in a reclined position throughout the lift and transport.
