Piafes Promote Eating Independence
Eating independence can be restored to the physically challenged with the Adams Plates. The plates are available in two configurations, the first features a spoon directing channel. This wide, rounded channel across the center of the plate directs the spoon toward the edge of the plate. The second configuration is the Adams Universal Plate which features a smooth flat bottom and rounded corners as well as a small inner lip.
The Adams Plates are molded of high strength plastic material. They are virtually unbreakable, stackable, dishwasher safe, and can be sterilized in an autoclave, making them ideal for both home and institutional use.

Adjustable Support System for Urinary Drainage
A patented support system for urinary and other drainage devices has been introduced by Nu-Hope Laboratories, Inc. The system offers greater comfort and security to users while eliminating the problem of latex leg straps.
Utilizing a "one size fits all," velcro-fastened waist band to support the weight of the bag, the design needs no latex leg straps as used in most systems. In addition to better support and greater comfort, the system can be washed for re-use. For hospital and home, it can be used with any manufacturer's urinary bags.

Disinfecting Whirlpool Baths in Healthcare Facilities
Apollo Corporation has introduced a technology which makes obsolete the necessity to disinfect whirlpool bath units with hazardous chemical disinfectants between patient baths, a time-consuming and expensive process.
Apollo has named its newest technology "The Remedy." While a patient is being bathed, activation of the whirlpool automatically and continuously recirculates the bath water through two separate chambers housing germicidal ultra-violet. As the water passes through the chambers, it swirls around and over the ultra-violet lights which destroy the DNA of all types of microorganisms, killing them instantly.
Independent, in vitro laboratory testing documents that bacteria counts are reduced up to 98% at the end of a 10- to 12-minute bath with this product. Such low bacteria counts eliminate the need for the use of chemical disinfectants between baths, saving considerable time and money. Apollo has devised a simple test which can be performed onsite in a healthcare facility that confirms lab test results.
The Remedy is available either as an accessory to all Apollo bathing systems or in a portable, self-contained model that can be used with most existing tubs.

Gel Wound Dressing Provides Moist Wound Healing Environment
Kendall Healthcare Products announces the introduction of Curafil Gel Wound Dressing, a clear viscous gel dressing that conforms while providing moisture to dry wounds.
Made from a glycerin gel that won't dry out, Curafil helps reduce the frequency of wound dressing changes. The soft gel may be applied directly to the wound or on a sterile dressing. When used in conjunction with an occlusive dressing, Curafil helps promote enzymatic digestion of dead or degenerate cells.
The glycerin-based product helps create the optimal moist wound healing environment for stage IIV pressure ulcers, stasis ulcers or first- and seconddegree burns as well as cuts, abrasions and minor skin irritations.
Curafil Gel Wound Dressing's tube packaging can be conveniently resealed for multiple usages.
