Attachment Simulates Lifting Activities
The Biodex Lift Simulation Attachment increases the versatility of the Biodex Multi-Joint System to include lift-related assessment, screening, training, and rehabilitation. The Lift Simulation Attachment attaches directly to the dynamometer of the single chair, double chair, or back system for use with all Biodex operating modes.
Actual lifting activities are simulated for more reliable patient analysis with real time action limits to protect the patient during static and dynamic lift simulation in either isokinetic, eccentric, isometric, or isotonic operating modes. Three special attachments simulate between knee, outside knee, and overhead lifts with an indexed positioning grid and vertical scale for fast, reproducible set-ups. Testing protocols and data are provided for direct comparison to NIOSH standards.

Armboard Facilitates IV Catheterization
An improved version of the popular 4/1 Armboard Securement System for IV catheterization has been introduced by Infection Control Products, Inc. This innovative system is actually one device that takes the place of the four separate products used in the traditional procedure: armboard /splint, gauze or self-adherent bandage, gauze pads, and tape.
Three key improvements make the 4/1 armboard more comfortable for the patient and easier for health care professionals to use. A padded, three-layer absorbent sleeve has been added to the one-piece extruded board. The fluidimpervious inner film barrier acts as an infection control agent. The middle layer absorbs and contains fluids, and the soft oneway directional outside liner keeps fluids in. Stretchable straps gently secure the tube and armboard while minimizing any tourniquet effect. Repeated inspection of the IV site is simple and can be performed without cutting or removing the armboard. The "hook" style fastener at the end of each strap is easily adjustable and eliminates the need for tape.
The 4/1 armboard comes in five ready-to-use sizes: neonatal, infant, pediatric, adult wrist, and adult arm. One person can easily secure the 4/1 armboard in seconds. No tape contacts the skin, helping to prevent skin breakdowns and allergic reactions. Any perspiration is whisked away from the skin for long-lasting patient comfort. In special situations, such as pediatrics, one piece of tape wrapped around the strap fastening system adds security. Only a pair of scissors is required to shorten one of the standard sizes for custom applications. The 4/1 armboard has a significant cost advantage when compared with the time and materials required for conventional TV stabilization.
