The Third International Symposium on Osteoporosis: Research Advanced and Clinical Applications will be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC. Sponsored by the National Osteoporosis Foundation, the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, and the National Institute of Health, the symposium will provide an overview of current research and clinical advances in the field of osteoporosis. The Association for Death Education and Counseling's (ADEC) 16th Annual Conference will be held at the Red Lion Hotel-Lloyd Center in Portland, Oregon. Topics to be featured include the following: death as a result of cult affiliation; death and the Native American; AIDS and the challenge to mourn; and laughter in the face of death. In addition, The ADEC Education Institute will sponsor certification preparation courses and specialty workshops. Continuing education units, NBCC, nursing, and APA credits for the workshops and certification preparation courses will be offered.
