"Adding bath oil to the patients' baths is beneficial, as is using it in perenial areas when geriatric patients develop skin rash due to incontinence of bowel movement and urination. Bath oil can be applied generously up to the sacral areas, thus preventing patients developing bed sores."

"As a parish nurse for Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer, Iowa, my role involves being a holistic health educator for our members. Program topics on grief and loss, living wills, and healthy lifestyles enhance the health and well-being of our senior members. I also encourage intergenerational activities so that the youth have a better understanding of elders and aging.

As a coordinator for the Northwest Aging Association's Parish Nurse Project, I also assist 75 nurses in establishing parish nurse service. They are making a difference by being a 'caring connecting link' in their churches."…
