Adjustable Light Shines Where Needed

A new miniature night light that clips to a pocket or can be pinned on clothing and features an adjustable bright light to allow hands-free activities in the dark is being introduced by MC Johnson Co, Inc.

Lite-A-Nite is a miniature hands-free night light that attaches directly to clothing and features an extra bright bulb which shines up to 3 feet away. Designed to illuminate a specific area, the light rotates a full 360°, stays in place once positioned, and lays flat against its base when not in use.

Polymer Package Absorbs Spills

A new superabsorbent polymer product absorbs and holds water-based liquid spills for convenient, leak-free, safe disposal. The polymer pouches, sold under the Liqui-Sorb name, are offered by the Specialty Packaging Division of American Colloid Company.

New optional features include a disinfectant and deodorizer for minimizing odors. Liqui-Sorb is a granular polymer material contained in flexible flowthrough heat-sealed pouches, each intended for a single use. The polymer absorbs up to 400 times its own weight in aqueous fluids, forming a gel-like substance that will not leak or rip under pressure. Liquids are safely contained within the pouch, forming a compact, disposable means of cleaning up noxious spills and leaks. The polymer is nontoxic, non-irritating, non-flammable, and odorless; it appears on the list of products approved for use by US Government agencies.

Liqui-Sorb pouches may be formulated to any required size to serve as package or drum liners. Applications include but are not limited to protecting packages of biohazardous fluids, toxic waste, liquid alkalies, urine and blood samples, poisons, and other hazardous solutions.

Chair Flotation Cushion Maintains Seating Stability

Spinal Technologies introduces the Spinal-Tech chair flotation cushion, the patented anti-decubitus chair flotation cushion engineered to help maintain patient seating stability which can be used as either an air, water, or gel cushion. By using the principle of flotation and displacement, the Spinal-Tech chair flotation cushion spreads the patient's weight and distributes pressure over a larger area, while automatically positioning the patient with stability toward the rear of the chair.

The unique design effectively conforms to body contours, creating an extremely comfortable seating environment for the user. The cushion consists of two separate parts: an inner chamber which can be filled with either air, water, or gel, and an outer air frame that is constructed from heavy duty heat-sealed washable vinyl.

The inner chamber, when filled with air, becomes an extremely lightweight flotation cushion at just 2 lbs. When filled with water or gel, the flotation cushion weighs about 12 lbs. The inner chamber is also constructed with a series of baffles to further maintain patient stability. The air frame, which surrounds the inner chamber and serves as a safety liner, is higher in the front and gently slopes lower toward the rear, helping to assure the proper positioning and stabilization of the patient in the chair.
