Golander Study Offers New Insights

Abstract

To The Editor:

I read with interest Hava Colander's article "Under the Guise of Passivity," which appeared in the February 1987 issue. Studies of this nature confirm empirically derived conclusions which I have reached from clinical observations.

The study results offer insights into behavior which, to the strong and agile, is oftentimes perplexing. I will encourage the nurses with whom I work to consider these findings in their day-to-day support of residents who reside in long-term care facilities.…
