Abstract

To the Editor:

Our article, "Joint Efforts Between Education and the Community" (January 1987), failed to identify the City of Maiden, Massachusetts, Council on Aging with whom Project Nursing Outreach is affiliated. The director of the council, Neicei Degen, together with Professor Frances Portnoy, were the originators of the model. Mrs Degen has provided the foresight, leadership, and continued enthusiasm for the project. It is only through her that we are able to achieve the successes that were reported in the article. Indeed, to the best of our knowledge, this was the first relationship of its kind where a school of nursing and a council on aging worked together to provide services to community-based elders.

Dr Glover and I regret that we failed to give credit to the Maiden Council on Aging and its director, Mrs Neicei Degen, in our article.…
