Diabetes Management Companion System
Bio-Dynamics now markets a blood glucose self-monitoring meter, AccuChek bG, which works as a companion system to the company's visually read strip, Chemstrip, bG. The meter is designed for the visually impaired diabetic, or for those who prefer digital readout of blood glucose values.
The meter is a 12-ounce, portable minicomputer that works on four AA alkaline batteries. It has a built-in timer with a soft beep, and a digital display of both time and actual blood glucose value. No water or special blotting paper is needed to remove blood from the strip. The meter calibrates automatically by reading a calibration film strip that is packaged with each Chemstrip bG 50-strip vial. The calibration feature plots multiple points along the glucose oxidase curve for a particular batch of Chemstrip bG.
