New Patient Positioner
Heelbo Incorporated has developed a new patient positioner with advanced improvements in patient care. The new positioner, called the Snuggy, allows air to pass through it more easily than regular synthetic sheepskin types eliminating the build-up of body heat which can cause skin irritations and breakdown.
The Snuggy eliminates the need for pillows and rolled blankets which can slip out of place and feel bulky and uncomfortable. Even after repeated washing in the hospital laundry, Snuggy will not nub but stay soft and comfortable. It is recommended for the incontinent, terminally ill, paraplegics, postsurgical, ICU-CCU, ortho, rehab- any patient who needs positioning. Snuggy saves nursing time since the whole operation can be completed in only about two minutes.
The positioner measures 24 x 41 inches long, ties are 2 inches wide and 44 inches long. It is made of soft, synthetic shearling backed by Vi inch polyurethane, open-cell foam with a tricot lamination.

New Line of IM and Subcutaneous Syringes and Needles
Becton-Dickinson has introduced six new products especially designed for intramuscular and subcutaneous injections. These products, the company states, can satisfy virtually all intramuscular and subcutaneous injection needs and can replace more than 15 products now commonly used for these purposes.
In addition to the cost savings resulting from such inventory simplification, these newly-designed products help minimize patient discomfort by incorporating the thin wall concept, which utilizes smaller needle gauges without sacrificing medication flow rates. Patient discomfort has also been minimized by the use of improved needle lubrication, deburring, and scientific inspection procedures that assure consistently sharp needles.
Product safety is enhanced by the use of a Color-Klear Translucent Hub that can indicate the presence of blood or air bubbles. A "blisterpak" makes the syringe visible, while the package, the plunger, and the hub all provide color coded identification.

Voxin-PG For Relief of Respiratory Conditions
Norwich-Eaton Pharmaceuticals announces their new respiratory decongestant and moisturizing expectorant, Voxin-PG.
The new drug is indicated in those respiratory conditions where tenacious mucus plugs and congestion complicate conditions such as sinusitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, asthma and, as adjunctive therapy, in serous otitis media. Voxin-PG also may be of value in avoiding secondary middle ear complications of nasopharyngeal congestion accompanying coryza and rhinitis.
Voxin-PG does not depend on the drying effect of antihistamines or suppression of the cough reflex for its action. Instead, each longacting tablet of Voxin-PG contains phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride, 75 mg, and guaifenesin, 400 mg, in a special base to provide a prolonged therapeutic effect. Phenylpropanolamine is an effective vasoconstrictor that decongests swollen mucous membranes of the respiratory tract. Guaifenesin enhances the flow of respiratory tract fluid, promoting ciliary action and facilitating removal of thick, tenacious mucus. The usual dosage is one tablet twice daily for ten days.
