Generation Gap

Betty Lou Jenkins, RN

Abstract

Poetry

Wasn't our daughter cute, when she stood, and fell,

and pulled herself up and walked?

When she mumbled and jumbled all of her words,

and then began to talk.

When she wondered away from our front yard,

and we found her down the street.

When she put her sweater on inside out,

and her shoes had two left feet.

Well you know mom fell the other day,

and could not get up and walk.

Her words are all mumbled,

and we can not understand her talk.

She puts her clothes on Inside out,

and her shoes on the wrong feet.

Taking care of mom, is quite a feat.

When I turn my back she wonders off,

  • and is found on some far away street.
