ST. LOUIS – Jim Fanelli, OD, FAAO, said here at Optometry’s Meeting that he uses OCT in his practice for patients who have macular disease and glaucoma.

“Having the ability to discern the finer nuances of structural changes in the retinal nerve fiber layer and ganglion cell layer has been a game changer,” he said. “By being able to discern these changes at a much earlier [stage in] the patient’s management, we can alter therapy and tell if the macula is improving or worsening.”
