Carl Zeiss Meditec earnings at €64.1 million for 6-month period

Carl Zeiss Meditec reported earnings before interest and tax of €64.1 million for the first 6 months of the fiscal year, up from €61.1 million in the same period of the previous year, according to a company news release.

Revenues increased 2.6% to €443 million.

Revenue in the surgical ophthalmology strategic business unit grew 16.4% to €60.46 million from €51.94 million. The microsurgery unit increased 6% to €206.73 million from €195.08 million, and the ophthalmic systems unit decreased 4.9% to €175.77 million from €185.78 million.

Regionally, the strongest revenue growth was 5.9% in the Asia-Pacific region, followed by a 2.1% increase in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. Revenue decreased 0.1% in the Americas region.

Carl Zeiss Meditec is maintaining its fiscal goals, including revenue between €880 million and €910 million, the release said.
