The Infectious Diseases Society of America launched a COVID-19 website for frontline clinicians that includes information curated by a multidisciplinary team of experts.

Funded by the CDC, the COVID-19 Real-Time Learning Network microsite “brings together the latest clinical guidance, institutional protocols, clinical trials data, practice tools and resources from a variety of medical subspecialties around the world,” the IDSA said in a press release.

The site includes links to guidelines published by the IDSA and others, information on therapeutics like convalescent plasma and remdesivir, and collections of the latest literature and research related to the pandemic.

One page includes a table of every COVID-19 vaccine candidate that has published clinical trial data. Links take users to the published findings.

The site, which is curated by medical editors and other expert contributors, “links to a variety of interactive programs and learning opportunities for clinicians not only practicing in infectious diseases, but also in critical care, emergency medicine and other specialties,” the IDSA said.

“As this pandemic evolves, our efforts to fight it must represent a coordinated effort across the entire medical community,” IDSA president and Infectious Disease News Editorial Board Member Thomas M. File Jr., MD, MSc, said in the release.

Other medical groups involved in the effort include the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America and the AAP.

“The dynamic nature of the COVID-19 pandemic presents a constant challenge to rapidly capture the latest knowledge and inform clinical and public health practice. Our partnership with IDSA and the availability of this new microsite supports our efforts to get the latest science, guidance, and best practices to the clinical community,” Henry Walke, MD, MPH, Director of CDC’s Division of Preparedness and Emerging Infections, said in the release.

“We will continue to support frontline clinicians, who are serving alongside public health experts to prevent and control COVID-19, while working to provide the best care for their patients,” Walke said.
