Roswell Park appoints chair of cancer genetics, genomics department
Agnes Witkiewicz, MD, has been appointed director of cancer genetics and genomics at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Witkiewicz — a physician-researcher who has been on staff at Roswell Park since 2018 — will hold the John and Santa Palisano endowed chair of cancer genetics. She also will co-lead the cancer center support grant genetics and genomics program.
Witkiewicz’s research interests include identifying molecular abnormalities and applying effective therapies to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
“Dr. Witkiewicz’s expertise in molecular biology, genetics and therapeutics helps guide and shape our clinical trials in ways that benefit our patients and greater research efforts immensely,” Candace S. Johnson, PhD, Roswell Park’s president and CEO, said in a press release. “We look forward to watching our programs related to cancer genetics reach new heights under her direction.”
Witkiewicz is a board-certified pathologist with a subspecialty in dermatopathology.
