SAN ANTONIO — Amy J. Irwin, MD, medical oncologist with Virginia Cancer Specialists, a practice in The US Oncology Network, provides an overview of what she considered the key themes from San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.

These included the diversity of breast cancer biology, as well as the diversity of targets available for response and prognostic factors.

“Breast cancer is even more complicated than any of us realized,” Irwin said. “We need more biomarkers to help us early in the [therapeutic] course so that we can adapt and personalize treatment for our individual patients as opposed to giving everyone everything.” – by Kristie L. Kahl
