In this video exclusive, Scott Gabbard, MD, from Cleveland Clinic, discussed a sleep positioning device used to manage gastroesophageal reflux disease in lung transplant recipients.

He said the device significantly improves GERD symptoms when patients lay in the supine position.

“We were able to reduce supine reflux by 80% just using the sleep positioning device,” Gabbard said. “Overall rates of reflux went down by 62%. This is very exciting in that we may have a safe therapy to treat those patients who have reflux in the supine position after having undergone a lung transplant.”
