Children’s Hospital Colorado ranked top hospital for pediatric GI, GI surgery

Children’s Hospital Colorado ranked as the top hospital for pediatric gastroenterology and GI surgery in the 2020-2021 U.S. News & World Report Best Children’s Hospitals list.

The hospital, located in Aurora, Colorado, made the jump up from its sixth-place ranking in last year’s list. Boston Children’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia came in at second and third on the 2020-2021 GI and GI surgery list, respectively.

Children’s Hospital Colorado was also ranked at number six in the Honor Roll for all specialties.

“More incredible still is our teams’ dedication and consistency – a tireless effort that keeps us among the best pediatric hospitals in the nation year after year,” Jena Hausmann, president and CEO of Children’s Colorado, said in a press release. “Kids really are incredibly different, and this is what different looks like.”

The other hospitals recognized in the top 10 for GI and GI surgery were, Texas Children’s Hospital, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Children’s Medical Center Dallas, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

The U.S. News & World Report Best Children’s Hospitals list factors in patient outcomes, clinical resources and compliance with best practices to compile the rankings.

“Across our nation, health care professionals are striving against unprecedented challenges to provide the best possible care to each of their patients,” Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News, said in a press release. “The nurses, doctors and other professionals at the Best Children’s Hospitals have demonstrated a track record of delivering top-notch care to children with diverse medical needs.”
