SAN ANTONIO — In this video, Christina Ha, MD, FACG, associate professor at Cedars-Sinai, discusses the management of inflammatory bowel disease among elderly patients.

When treating this population, Ha said it is important to recognize early disease activity and adjust treatment based on disease severity, as well as address modifiable disease factors, including anemia, malnutrition and sarcopenia.

“If you can address some of these modifiable factors early on top of using the right agents early for the right level of disease activity, we can optimize the efficacy and safety of how we take care of our older patients,” she said.
