Novan announced it has formed an advisory council comprised of key opinion leaders in the field of dermatology, which will be led by Lawrence Eichenfield, MD.

Eichenfield, chief of pediatric and adolescent dermatology at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego, vice chair of the Department of Dermatology and professor of dermatology and pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, will chair the council, which will focus on expanding nitric oxide therapies in dermatology, according to a news release from Novan.

“The anti-infective and immunomodulatory effects of nitric oxide have long been documented in the literature,” Eichenfield stated in the release. “I believe Novan’s nitric oxide-releasing platform has the potential to deliver on the promise of nitric oxide, and I am happy to join my dermatology colleagues in advising this company in their pursuit of innovative treatment options for skin conditions with significant unmet need.”

James Del Rosso, DO; Diane Thiboutot, MD; Ted Rosen, MD; Brian Berman, MD, PhD; Leon Kircik, MD; Alan Menter, MD; and Lisa Beck, MD, are the other member of the advisory council, whose expertise includes acne, antiviral, antifungal and inflammatory skin diseases.
