The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery has elected Ken Washenik, MD, PhD, FISHRS, president, according to a press release.

The announcement of Washenik’s election took place at the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) World Congress in Las Vegas, according to the release from Bosley Medical Group. Washenik is chief medical officer of Bosley Medical Group and has been on the ISHRS board for 5 years.

He was previously the director of the Dermatopharmacology Unit of New York University School of Medicine and continues to serve on the faculty of the university’s department of dermatology.

ISHRS has 1,200 members from 70 countries and offers continuing medical education to physicians who specialize in hair transplant surgery and promotes and funds research in hair restoration, according to the release.

“Dr. Washenik is respected both in the world of dermatologic research involving hair loss, as well as hair restoration surgery, Sharon Keene, MD, past president of ISHRS, stated in the release. “Our physicians will greatly benefit from his recognized leadership and expertise.”
