CMS has announced its Open Payments system will once again be unavailable at two specified times due to network maintenance. It has extended the deadline to submit disputes to Sept. 10 to accommodate the outages.

The first closure date is Saturday, Aug. 30, beginning at 1:00 a.m. and ending at 11:00 a.m. EST. The second closure is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 5; the start time and duration will be announced next week, according to the press release from CMS.

CMS closed its Open Payments system on Aug. 2 to address data errors and instances of intermingled data. The site was reopened on Aug. 15, and the deadline for submitting a dispute regarding the data was postponed until Sept. 8 to accommodate the closing, as CMS planned on allowing a 45-day period for dispute submission.

Physicians and teaching hospitals may still open disputes after the new Sept. 10 deadline, but only data submitted before that time will be shown as under dispute when the payment data are made public on Sept. 30.
