Enhancing the expertise and skills of the general pediatrician

Hot topics and updates for the patients in their waiting rooms right now

David W. Kimberlin, MD
Program Director

This is a meeting for office-based pediatricians who are looking for new or updated information to improve their day-to-day practices – in addition to gaining more information about the rare or challenging cases that may also walk through their office doors.

As with every year, our 2022 agenda topics are focused on the areas where new data is present. That could mean a variety of things, such as a new strategy to diagnose or test for a condition, a new vaccine or medication in the works or about to get approved, a new perspective available or something has changed our previous way of thinking… and so on. The Program Committee chooses the topics carefully each year to best represent the patients and their conditions that most pediatricians will see today, next month and in the next year.

Because our meeting is titled Infectious Diseases in Children, most people think we are only focused on infectious diseases. But that’s not true. We’re a hot topic update meeting and it just so happens that infectious diseases remain relevant among our kids – IDs impact a great percentage of the population and, in turn, new approaches, techniques and treatments emerge frequently – causing common infectious diseases to have important representation among our discussions.
