VIDEO: NLA official discusses presentations of interest at annual scientific sessions

NEW ORLEANS — In this video, Peter Jones, MD, FNLA, associate professor of medicine/atherosclerosis and lipidology at Baylor College of Medicine, and Chief Science Officer for the National Lipid Association, discusses highlighted presentations from the NLA Annual Scientific Sessions.

“We’ve got a great session here that’s going to cover all the latest information and data pertaining to clinical lipidology,” Jones told Cardiology Today.

Among those sessions discussed are two keynote sessions: one focusing on apoplipoprotein C-III and its role in lipid metabolism, and another on management and pathogenesis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Additionally, Jones said, a masters course on LDL receptor was introduced for the first time at the sessions. Focusing on genetic factors often seen in patients with autosomal-dominant hypercholesterolemia, the course examines new drugs and drugs in development designed to manipulate the LDL receptor to improve dyslipidemia.
