INFLIXIMAB USE IN ULCERATIVE COLITIS Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) encompasses Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, which are chronic, spontaneously relapsing disorders. The causes of these diseases are unknown, but genetic and environmental factors appear to interact via an immunologically mediated pathogenetic mechanism.
