Surgical management of the pregnant patient differs in several ways. Pregnancy induces a variety of chemical, hormonal, and mechanical changes that must be factored into the evaluation and treatment of these patients. Often, signs and symptoms of the pregnant patient presenting with GI disorders can be very similar to signs and symptoms of normal pregnancy.
