KEY POINTS The demarcation between complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and conventional medicine is not absolute. Alternative medicine and complimentary medicine are not the same, although they are frequently grouped together. Many CAM therapies, despite defying biological plausibility, have withstood the test of time as well as more recent scientific scrutiny.
