Traveling away from the controlled environment of home can be somewhat overwhelming to a patient with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). However, planning ahead can make travel more manageable and enjoyable. There are multiple aspects of travel to be considered: how to manage illness during travel, how to seek help if flaring during a trip, how to travel with medications and/or medical devices, considerations regarding immunization, and how to avoid and manage traveler’s diarrhea.
