Vaccinating patients with IBD is an important part of general care, especially for those patients who are malnourished or taking steroids, immunomodulators, or biologics. Physicians in general underimmunize patients with IBD. Since patients who are immunosuppressed (Table 23-1) have the highest risk of an infection, clinicians must keep patients up to date on their vaccinations.
