Crohn’s disease (CD) affects nearly 750,000 people in the United States and frequently requires both medical and surgical management in order to achieve disease remission.1 Approximately 80% of CD patients will require at least one intestinal surgery in their lifetime.2 Although surgery removes actively diseased intestine, it is not curative and recurrence is common.
