Perianal Crohn’s disease (CD) can be categorized as fistulizing and nonfistulizing. Nonfistulizing disease includes skin tags or anal canal abnormalities such as stenosis, fissures, and ulcers. The Cardiff anatomical classification (later modified by Hughes) categorizes nonfistulizing perianal disease as ulceration (U) or stricture (S), and grades these according to severity, location, and reversibility (ie, presence of fissure, ulcer, stricture).
