  • In a typical office day, the pediatric provider will likely see several clients with gastrointestinal complaints.  During the fall and winter diarrhea season, this number can overtake almost all other patients seen on any given day.  Although most gastrointestinal concerns are either due to viral insult, constipation, or functional abdominal issues; within this sea of "normal complaints" the provider must remain aware of less common, potentially devastating illnesses.

    This issue of Pediatric Annals provides five case presentations that will help the participant sharpen his or her clinical acumen and remain vigilant for common presentations of "less-than-normal" gastrointestinal complaints.
