CHICAGO — In the face of business challenges, such as prepayment audits and low reimbursements, Robert Benedetti, controller for De La Torre Orthotics and Prosthetics and consultant for Promise Consulting, said O&P practices can focus on the following three things to stay financially viable: people; process; and profit.

“All of these can affect your cash flow, and cash flow is the lifeblood of your company,” Benedetti said at the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium. “I have talked about [patient] care and profit, and where each [should] fall on a continuum [of importance], but there is a balance between the two.”
